Bhagavad Gita Chapter 18, Verse 61
ईश्वरः सर्वभूतानां हृद्देशेऽर्जुन तिष्ठति | भ्रामयन्सर्वभूतानि यन्त्रारूढानि मायया ||
īśvaraḥ sarvabhūtānāṁ hṛddeśe 'rjuna tiṣṭhati bhrāmayan sarvabhūtāni yantrārūḍhāni māyayā
O Arjuna, the Supreme Lord dwells in the region of the heart of all beings, causing all beings to revolve as if mounted on a machine, by maya.
Krishna reveals the Supreme as the controller. 'Īśvaraḥ sarvabhūtānāṁ hṛddeśe 'rjuna tiṣṭhati'—the Supreme Lord (īśvaraḥ) dwells (tiṣṭhati) in the region of the heart (hṛd-deśe) of all beings (sarva-bhūtānām), O Arjuna (arjuna). 'Bhrāmayan sarvabhūtāni yantrārūḍhāni māyayā'—causing to revolve (bhrāmayan) all beings (sarva-bhūtāni) as if mounted on a machine (yantra-ārūḍhāni), by maya (māyayā). This is the key teaching: the Supreme Lord is present in the heart of every being, and He controls all beings, making them move like puppets on a machine, through maya (His divine power). This reveals that you are not the ultimate controller—the Supreme is the controller, and you are being moved by His will through maya. Understanding this helps you recognize that you should surrender to the Supreme, who is the real controller.
