Bhagavad Gita Chapter 3, Verse 6
कर्मेन्द्रियाणि संयम्य य आस्ते मनसा स्मरन् | इन्द्रियार्थान्विमूढात्मा मिथ्याचारः स उच्यते ||
karmendriyāṇi saṁyamya ya āste manasā smaran indriyārthān vimūḍhātmā mithyācāraḥ sa ucyate
One who restrains the senses of action but whose mind dwells on sense objects certainly deludes himself and is called a pretender.
Krishna warns against mithyachara (pretense)—restraining your body while your mind dwells on sensory pleasures. Sitting still but mentally scrolling through desires is self-deception. You might physically control your hands, but if your thoughts are consumed by what you're 'giving up,' you're a hypocrite (vimudhatma—deluded soul). True spiritual practice transforms the mind, not just the actions. This verse demands alignment: your inner world must match your outer discipline.
