Bhagavad Gita Chapter 9, Verse 6
यथाकाशस्थितो नित्यं वायुः सर्वत्रगो महान् | तथा सर्वाणि भूतानि मत्स्थानीत्युपधारय ||
yathākāśa-sthito nityaṁ vāyuḥ sarvatra-go mahān tathā sarvāṇi bhūtāni mat-sthānīty upadhāraya
Just as the great wind, which is all-pervading, always remains in space, similarly, know that all beings are situated in Me.
Krishna uses a beautiful analogy to explain the Supreme's relationship to all beings: 'Yathakasha-sthito nityam vayuh sarvatra-go mahan'—just as (yatha) the great wind (mahan vayuh), which is all-pervading (sarvatra-go), always (nityam) remains in space (akasha-sthitah). 'Tatha sarvaani bhutani mat-sthanity upadharaya'—similarly (tatha), know (upadharaya) that all beings (sarvaani bhutani) are situated in Me (mat-sthani iti). Just as air pervades space yet space contains it, all beings are situated in the Supreme. The Supreme is like space—all-pervading, eternal, the foundation. All beings are like air—pervading, yet contained in space. This completes the teaching about the Supreme's relationship to creation: He is the foundation, the support, the container—yet He transcends everything.
